Even though we celebrate labor and work and accomplishments we also recognize that life has a burdensome labor to it as well. We all have a need of help, support and rest, these are things we can have in our lives, and can have right now.
Matthew 11:28-30 “28 Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Come unto me: We have a choice
All ye that labor and are heavy laden: We live in a world filled with weightiness
And I will give you rest: We all need a respite
Take my yoke upon you: We need to join with Him
Learn of me: We can discover how live with his help
For I am meek and lowly in heart: He gently and humbly helps s along
And ye shall find rest unto your souls: A chance for your soul to catch its breath
For my yoke is easy: He offers calm, tranquility for us.
And my burden is light: He makes burdens manageable
- Does not say that life will be burden free.
- Does not say life will be labor free.
- Does not promise us a rose garden.
- Does promise to share the load.
- Does promise to never forsake us nor leave us.
- Does promise to hope that all burdens will someday come to an end.
Remember, with Jesus in your heart you are a winner. No matter how difficult and painful this life is there is waiting for us an assured hope for the future of joy inexpressible and joy eternal. Until that day we have someone who will ever be by our side through the difficulties of life and will not abandon us and will never stop loving us, that is Jesus.
Revelation 21:1-5 1 Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth, “for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” 5 He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
Take time this labor day to cease from trying to live life by yourself and allows Jesus to go on your journey with you.
