Really – are there choices between Society and Savior?
Allow me to say definitively, yes, and no. Allow me to illustrate.
Do you like cinnamon rolls? Trust me, I really do. But the question is not so much which cinnamon rolls I like but would I like a cinnamon roll with no cinnamon in it. I know, I know, if there is no cinnamon on it then it is not a cinnamon roll.
Well, is it not the same with life? If God created us to be people who are social and form societies, and He made us so that we need Him in every part of our lives does it not seem logical that He needs be part of our society as well. All of life is to be flavored by the presence of God. Remove God and His precepts and you no longer have the society He designed but one that humanity has made after its own image.
Yet, we live in a fallen world. So our world chose to follow any line of thought, belief or philosophy but does not accept that which is from God. So “naturally” society often finds itself based only on human wisdom and rejects anything not in line with the world’s way of seeing things.
But God has a plan. He wants us to carry His love, grace, and mercy, and Gospel into the world and into society. We are His ambassadors to a fallen world and when we let His light shine through our lives (lives directed by God Himself as we live by His Word) then society is affected. Not un like what Scripture says in Matthew 5: 13-16.
14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
We need to follow the path God gives us and live by His light and be seasoned by His Word that we may affect Society. Then we can see society make choices that are God given rather than Self Absorbed.
So there are choices but only one set of precepts for guidance. Do we seek to allow God to flavor society or do we choose human society over God? It is your choice.
